Stickitothemaniosis

Winston and Montag are sticking it to the man, but they are taking a big risk in doing so, and are possibly endangering others in the process. Do you think their risks are worth it? Why or why not? 80 words minimum.

Montag has decided to rebel and read books rather than go to work and burn books. I think his risk is worth it because he truly has nothing he will regret losing. Clarisse is missing, probably dead, and Montag no longer finds any pleasure in his job. In the book he also says he hopes his wife does not die merely because he will feel guilty if she does and he feels no remorse over it. Due to all of this I do not think he has anything to tie him down or make him wish to be careful. For him, the risks are definitely worth anything he is risking.

I do think that the risks that Winston takes are worth it because he is uncovering the truth about the corruptness of the party. Also, he is hopefully going to help spark some sort of changes in the way that the government and everything works. His small actions might end up making all the difference for him and future people. So that does indeed seem worth it to me, even though Winston does do a lot of risky things.

Winston is constantly performing thought crimes when he is thinking about how he hates Big Brother, and also goes against the government when he writes in his journal and has sex. I think that these actions are worth while for Winston because he realizes that he is, in a sense, ‘already dead’, because he knows that the thought police are going to catch him eventually. He might as well perform the actions because he is going to get caught anyway, so why not just go ahead with the risks and do what he wants while he can.

I think that the risks that Winston is taking are worth it. The government is corrupt and Winston is showing it to everyone. Even if he is endangering other people, he thinks that they need to know the truth. He is right about that. The people need to know what is wrong with the party and rebel against it. Winston does need to be careful so that he actually gets people to believe him before he is vaporized.

The risks that Winston takes are worth it because he is trying to change things in the government. By trying to change things he could make the future better for people. Also it seems like he doesn’t really care about taking the risks because it seems like he starts to question his sanity. Since he is starting to think that he is going crazy he might not care what happens to him. Also by taking risks he is able to find out the truth and tell others the truth. Winston knows that he is probably going to get caught by the Thought Police, but I think it is worth it because by taking these risks he is helping not only himself, but other people too.

I think Winston taking the risks that he does, is totally worth it. He really has nothing to loose at this point. He has a very pathetic life. His life is basically serving the government. But he doesn't like the government so if he were to be vanished for his actions, he would really be loosing nothing. He has come to realize that he is technically already dead. So I think at this point he doesn't care whether he is vanished tomorrow or years from now. So when he does illegal stuff like having sex and writing in his journal, yes he's scared of being caught, but he knows he has nothing to loose. He is doing something that not many other people are brave enough to do. So if "sticking it to the man" is something Winston truly believes in, than it is certainly more than worth it.

I think that Winston’s risks are worth it. If he goes against The Party it might help him find out more information. I think that I would rather know more and die than live and not know what is happening. I think that Winston might endanger somebody, but he really doesn’t really have anybody in his life that The Party knows about. I think that the risks are worth it. I believe knowing more is better then knowing less. If Winston knows more about The Party’s ways it will help him.

Montag decided to take a book and rebel. He also doesn’t want to go to his job to burn books, he wants to read and figure out what they are about. I think that he is taking a good risk because he has nothing to loose, the one good friend that he had is gone and he doesn’t like his job anyway. Also if he lost his wife he wouldn’t feel that bad about it but he would still feel something because he was the one who took the book and risked it. I think that he should take this risk because it is a good one and he can discover things in books.

Montag has nothing to lose by taking the risks of disobeying his responsibilities as a firefighter. He has no feelings towards his wife anymore. Neither one of them can remember when they first might. His wife is too busy with the technology and the government’s rules. Clarisse is missing, so he has no one to relate to and to talk about the crazy lifestyle they have to live. Montag can take these risks by read the books. He has nothing left to lose besides his life. Why not take a chance and discover what is hidden in the mysterious books.

I think that the risks Winston takes are worth it because he has nothing to lose. Winston is trying to uncover the truth about the government and is constantly performing thoughtcrimes, either way, if he stops his actions or does not he will wind up captured. If Winston is persistent he could spark a major revolution. While Winston will most likely be captured in the end but if he continues to oppose the Party, he can create a better future for another generation.

Montag is taking a big risk by choosing to read the books, especially since Beatty seems to know this fact as well. But, the risk that he’s taking is worth it. First of all, he doesn’t even have anyone he cares for in his life whom he could possibly endanger. Also, he isn’t happy with his life or his job. So, instead of working and living for something that he doesn’t believe in, it is certainly better to die for something that he does believe in. And, in the process, his curiosity will also be satisfied.

I think that Winston is taking huge risks in looking into the stories behind the Party. However, I do think that he is doing the right thing. He's living in this world where he's expected to live as a robot, to not question anything and do as he is told. In my opinion, that isn't truly living. I think that Winston feels like he has to do this, it's important for him to get this right, to prove that he is right. To him this is more important then being caught, he already thinks he will eventually be caught anyways.

I think that the risks Winston is taking are worth it. Winston knows that the Party is doing these certain things to the public, but he doesn’t understand why they are doing them. This really motivates him to try to learn more about the Party and what they are trying achieve that is so important it must be kept secret. Winston already committed thought crimes, so he proceeds to writing in the journal and having sex without caution because he knows he can get in a lot of trouble just because of his thoughts. Winston feels as though he has much to gain and very little to lose if he opposes the Party.

Winston should go all out if he is going to stick it to the man. He doesn't have anything to lose because he has lost his wife, Katherine, his mother, his sister and friends. If Winston doesn't stick it the man, he is going to get in trouble anyway; so he might as well just go for the risk; because of other crimes he has previously commited. Such as, writing in a journal, thinking about rebelling aginst the governemnt and visitng the town of the proles and asking about how times were before the Revolution occured. People will thank Winston in the end and they probably will be hurting emotionally, but not pyhsically. They will soon come to understand that it was for the best. By trying to overthorw the governemnt he will be able to show the people in the community that everyhting told to them were lies and that real life is nothing like this.

I think that Winston taking the risk and sticking it to the man is worth it, even if they are endangering themselves and others in the process. Winston can’t help his curiosity about the world before the Revolution and I think if he were to try to stop these actions, things might be more worse off then they are now. I think if Winston stays the way he is thinking, he might be able to break into Big Brother, and find out what it’s really all about. Winston feels that the people need to know what the government is trying to do to them, and I think he could find a way to get it in their heads that the government is bad. If Winston keeps up his thinking, he could be caught by the Thought Police, but he could make a difference. So yes, I do think that the risks he takes are worth it.

I think the risks Winston's taking are well worth it. He is willing to make a difference with the problems throughout the government. Even though people may be harmed through the process Winston believes it's the right thing to do. Although Winston can get caught, he is doing the right thing by trying to make the future government and society better.

I believe that Winston is making the right choice and taking all of these risks because he needs to show to everyone that he has the truth. I think that someone could get hurt when he does go against The Party. This is a huge risk to take, and I support Winston all the way. I feel like that this is one of those things that he just has to do. It's maybe not the smart thing to do, but it is the RIGHT thing to do. It will all be worth it in the end.

Winston has decided to take many risks in this book, and I believe that he should continue to take all of these risks. By Winston taking all of these risks, he is starting to uncover the real truth of what the party is all about. By Winston having sex and writing in his journal, he is endangering himself and others, but he realizes that he doesn't have a lot to lose. He realizes that he should live his life how he wants to and if he gets caught, there is nothing to be taken away from him except Julia. He will still always have his feelings inside him, and the party cannot change what he truly believes in. These risks are definately worth taking at this point in the book.

I think the risk are worth it because Winston already has gone against the goverment by having and thinking about sex.People need to know the truth winston thinks so,i feel the same also.He has nothing to loose winston has no life, all he does in write in his journal we think and think about crime. Winston nt only thinks about crime but also does some too nothing major but it's still crime, like how he thought about raping that girl in his mind. if he enjoys it let it be. Winston just mine as well take the risks.

I think that the risks Montag is taking are worth it. Once he saw the woman giving her life up for the books, he realized that there might be something more to the books. By stealing and hiding a book, he is committing a serious crime. This risk is worth taking because he needs to satisfy his curiosity and figure out what books are about. If he didn’t show an interest and try to figure things out, he would always have the thought in the back of his head wondering what would have happened if he had stolen a book. Also, this book hinted that another crime might have been previously committed, and if that is the case he is already not guilt – free. By taking a risk he has nothing to lose because he already is unhappy with his wife, job, etc. Overall, the risks that Montag takes are very much worth it.

I think all risks Winston takes are worth it. They are for the best of the people. The thought crimes and writing in the journal show his opinions about the government. These writings and thoughts if told to other people can lead to a rebellion and the fall of Big Brother. Winston needs to get to the heart of this government and find the answers. What is Big Brother for? Is he protecting or hiding us from something? Why? Winston needs to spread his thoughts to other people he can trust and rebel. It is definitely worth getting killed for.

I think that the risks Winston is taking are well worth it. He alone figured out that in this controlled life he has nothing to lose so he can do whatever he wants at no risk. He has sex when he feels like it; he writes in his journal all the time. He knows at some point he will probably get caught by the thought police, but considering the fact that all he has to lose is Julia; he does whatever he feels like doing. Winston clearly figured out that the world around him is controlled and he is doing whatever he can to rebel against it. He knows that they're risks and he knows that he's putting himself in danger but at this point he found no reason to worry. So in my opinion, Winston is doing the right thing by taking these risks.

Winston has come to recognize that his world is not what it ought to be. This is a plain truth that he cannot seem to knock out of his thoughts. Why does he think this? Even he can't seem to place its origin - at one point, he considers himself a lunatic, a "minority of one." Yet Winston knows that what he feels in his gut is true: the Party has driven society into a dead end, and something must be changed if the people of Oceania wish to prosper. However, I don't see Winston's behavior as Christ-like; rather, it seems as though he's just striving for what once was - and what should be. He wants his life to be vibrant and free of fear...freedom is what he's seeking, and he NEEDS to know if his concept of it ever existed in the past. The present world comes across to Winston as being innately awful; though he may fear death, he refuses to endure a meaningless, empty existence under the ever-watching Big Brother. So he risks his life for change...

Montag is taking a really large risk in reading books instead of burning them. The things in his life that used to bring him happiness have left him feeling numb, angry, or confused. The main reason he feels so confused is that he feels like he can’t relate to anything in his life; Clarisse was the only person that actually made him think and then she disappeared and left him with many questions. When the woman set herself and all her books on fire it had a great impact on Montag and made him want to know why she would die for them. I think that his risk would be worth it because he can find out many things in the books that he reads that the government wouldn’t tell people.

I think that the choice that Montag makes to read books is the right one and his risk is worth it. His choice leads him to think about his life and wheather or not what he is doing is right. He realizes that he and his wife are no longer a happy couple and that his job is wrong. I think the risks that he takes are worth it because he finnaly is able to see how bad his life has truly become.

Winston is taking many risks. Risks such as having a journal, having sex, and committing thought crimes. I think that the risks that Winston is taking are worth it. Obviously the government is corrupt in this society. Winston is trying to "stick it to the man" by doing these actions. He is trying to get a spark to ignite this fire, or change the government. By doing these risky actions, he may be changing the future for the better. He knows that he will eventually get caught by the thought police, but continues to do these things to make life better in the society that he is in.

Montag is taking a huge having that many books stashed away in his house. If anyone found out or even suspected that Montag had books his books and his house would have been burned. I don’t think that it is really worth it to keep these books hidden. The books are not worth ruining your life over. According to Beatty, books aren’t worth reading because you learn nothing and they are boring. I don’t see why he is hiding the books anyway.

I think that the risks Winston is taking are worth it because he has already lost so much in his life, he really has nothing to live for. He has lost his wife, his mother, and many of his friends. These risks he is taking hopefully will make people change thier minds about Big Brother and the government that is screwing all the people over. He has already commited so many crimes that have gone against the government, so it's not worth it to stop rebelling against Big Brother. By Winston trying to overthrow the government, people will soon understand how mistreated they are and will eventually thank him for rebelling

If I were Winston, I would be taking the same action as he is. He doesn't really have a great life, he hates his job, he hates his wife, he doesn't have anyone to go home to at the end of the day. To me, this would be the perfect reason to commit suicide. So the risks that he is taking are totally worth the pain he will endure at some point if/when people catch on.
Also, he is not only doing this for himself, he is revealing the secrets of the government and will hopefully show everyone living in this dystopia what "Big Brother" is really plotting to do with their lives. Winston is not considered a hero in my eyes, but a very careless man. He really could care less what happens to him as long as he knows the truth and his theories about the government were correct all along.

GO WINSTON :)

Guy Montag is taking a big risk taking a book, instead of torching it. He felt compelled to take the book after questions from his young neighbor, and watching a woman set ablaze her own house after the firemen had doused it in carosene. Montag wondered, what is in these books that is worth dying for. I think that the risk Montag takes is worth it because hes got nothing to lose.

The way that Winston takes the risks are very important. He is so against the way that the "man" does things is the wrong way. So it shows his characteristic by doing thing that he know is wrong. Also if he thinks he is going crazy it may be y he disobays the law that he is suppose to follow.

I think what Winston is doing is smart and deffinitly something I would do. Its kind of like when you find out your dying and you just want to live your life to the fullest. Winston feels trapped and doesnt know how to get out so hes having fun while he can. Taking risks makes him feel dangeruous. And yes he is endangerouring other people but its kind of like there willing to do so. Like by having sex with Julia, he feels rebellious and in control. I think hes a physco at times but hes also hopelessy devoted to end this madness.

Winston is finnaly doing something that is actively opposing the party, which is productive because the party sucks. In the process he is getting down with his lady friend which is a total bonus. By supporing opposition against the party he is actually improving life for everyone else. by freeing society people will eventually realize that their lives are being improved and will support him in this battle.

I think that Winston is taking the right risks because he could help turn his community into what it's supposed to be like. His community isn't the same as it was in the past, and he wants to know why this is. If he finds out how good the past was, then he might get everyone to believe him. I think that he could be dangering other people in the process though because he could get them killed also if they believe him.

I think that Montag has decided to be a rebel and read books instead of going to work and burning them like noraml. I think that he should take the risk because he doesn't have much going on in his life to loose. The girl that he met Clarisse had went missing. He doesn't know if he is truely in love with his wife. He has to basically convince himself that he is. By reading the books Montag can open his eyes to new things and leaarn many things that he doesn;t know about. So I think that the risk is worth taking.
